This role is central to our community's day-to-day operations and its ability to host services, holidays, and events smoothly. In addition to our main campus, this role oversees facilities and maintenance for Intown Jewish Preschool and two organization-owned rental properties, making this a multi-site position. The ideal candidate is a practical problem-solver who is comfortable working within a religious and communal environment, takes pride in maintaining warm, well-kept, and secure spaces across all of our properties.
What You’ll Do:
General Building Maintenance
Perform and coordinate routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections across the building and grounds, including basic electrical, plumbing, and HVAC troubleshooting
Maintain a preventive maintenance schedule and keep accurate records of repairs, inspections, and service history
Monitor building systems (heating, cooling, lighting, fire/life-safety) and respond promptly to malfunctions
Keep the facility clean, organized, and presentable, and manage or supervise custodial staff or contractors as needed
Multi-Site Property Oversight
Oversee facilities, maintenance, and repairs at Intown Jewish Preschool, ensuring the space is safe, clean, and compliant with any applicable childcare licensing or safety requirements
Oversee maintenance and upkeep of the organization’s two rental properties, coordinating repairs, inspections, and vendor visits, and serving as the point of contact for tenant maintenance requests
Prioritize and schedule maintenance work across all four properties, balancing routine upkeep with urgent repair needs
Travel regularly between sites; maintain a consistent presence at each property according to its needs
Event and Holiday Setup
Plan and execute fast, accurate room turnovers for religious services, holidays, and community events
Set up and break down furniture, tables, staging, and equipment for services, classes, and programs, often on short turnaround
Coordinate facility logistics with program director and program staff so spaces are ready ahead of each occasion
Security Coordination
Serve as the point person for building security, including access control, key/fob management, and coordination with security personnel or contracted security services
Maintain and monitor security systems (cameras, alarms, entry points) and respond to or escalate incidents appropriately
Coordinate facility security planning for high-traffic events and holidays in consultation with leadership
Kitchen Upkeep & Maintenance
Maintain the kosher kitchen facility in accordance with the organization’s kashrut standards, including equipment upkeep and coordination with kitchen/kashrut supervisors
Address maintenance needs for kitchen appliances and systems promptly to avoid disruption to food preparation and events
Vendor and Contractor Management
Source, vet, and manage relationships with outside contractors and service vendors (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, landscaping, cleaning, etc.)
Solicit and review quotes, negotiate pricing, and oversee vendor work to ensure quality and budget compliance
Track vendor contracts, service agreements, and invoices, and maintain a reliable list of trusted providers
What You’ll Bring:
6+ years of experience in facilities management, building maintenance, property management, or a related field
Working knowledge of building systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC) and general repair skills
Experience managing multiple properties or sites simultaneously preferred, including prioritizing across competing maintenance needs
Experience coordinating vendors and contractors, including reviewing quotes and overseeing work quality
Comfort and familiarity working within a religious or communal organization; willingness to learn and respect the Jewish calendar, holiday observances, and kashrut requirements
Comfort working in and around an active preschool environment, including awareness of childcare safety standards
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities, especially around fast-approaching holiday and event deadlines
Discretion, reliability, and sound judgment, given regular access to multiple properties and interaction with community members, staff, and tenants
Ability to lift and move furniture and equipment (up to 50 lbs) and to be on your feet for extended periods during setup and breakdown
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required for regular travel between properties
Background check required

Generous paid time off, including sick and personal days
Paid federal and Jewish holidays
Supportive, values-driven team environment
